Bachelor Pad: The Sources!

Thanks for all the sweet comments yesterday! I totally loved doing this place, so it makes me glad that you guys get what I was going for and like the work I did! I mean, I birthed this space: design, art, photographed! I even built half the furniture in here, which was not a good thing for anyone involved. What I like about this space, is that everything is stuff almost anyone could buy. Its nothing D&D, it's not really anything secret or only available to decorators, its simple stuff...and all together it cost about the same as if someone just went into a Crate and Barrel and said … [Read more...]

The Big Black Sconce.

The Brick House. I know I post about this often, but this whole sconce as art, sculpture and lighting device is just so happening for me right now. This one thing: a long armed wall light- could solve so many design problems! Like: No overhead lighting in a NYC apartment (we all know what that means: concrete ceilings and 800 lamps), large awkward wall behind sofa that one can't afford/doesnt want to fill with art, rooms that are too blah and need a JOLT of life... Well, just those few for now. But those are important! Plus a lot of these are plug ins, so you don't have to have them hard … [Read more...]

My favorite new things around the web.

As much as I love a good sale, I absolutely LOVE when there are new fun products in stores that we aren't sick to death of seeing yet... And I also love getting catalogs. Like a lot. Even bad and boring ones like Smith & Noble... (And now after I read them I throw them right in the garbage, instead of letting them pile up. It's my new life.) Anyway, there are exciting things happening! West elm has goldware! PB Teen has the furry chair that everyone is going to put with a parsons desk or mirrored vanity in 2 months, you'll know when you see it all over pinterest that I called it. Jamie … [Read more...]

Here’s a quick idea.

This may seem silly, but I dont know why it never occurred to me before. My two year old daughter is still not trustworthy with glass plates, and we have a few kiddie plates, but they are just OK in the looks department.... Now that its "dining al fresco" season, why not stock up on melamine plates to use for your kid? You can get really fab ones this time of year, so you wont have to compromise on style. I bought these today from West Elm: (The fork and spoon are from Pottery Barn Kids) And I bought a few so if a friend comes over I dont have to scramble all over looking for two … [Read more...]

West Elm + Stray Dog Designs

I just got a little sneak peak of Summer 2011 at West Elm. AND looky here, their latest collaboration is with Stray Dog Designs, the company that made paper mache cool again! I happen to love their stuff. Its whimsical, playful and sophisticated all at once. I actually own that mirror in the center. It's hanging in Cookie's room!  As for this collaboration, I LOVE the chandelier in the center! I think its very sophisticated and it looks like resin pieces by Oly Studio that cost way more than $299! Some more of my favorite pieces: This stool is an instant classic!!! … [Read more...]
