Jean Paul Goude| The man who #broketheInternet.

The last thing I ever want to do is talk about Kim Kardashian's ass. Well, that's a lie, I have a secret obsession with plastic surgery before and afters. I spend an embarrassing amount of time googling Lindsey Lohan, the entire Kardashian clan, and most recently Renee Zelwegger. A guilty love of the low brow, for sure. But Kim certainly broke the internet this week with her shoot for Paper Magazine. (Why was that full frontal so JARRING!?!) Jean Paul Goude, the photographer, is known for this. Extreme proportions are kind of his thing. He's been doing this since the 60's (B.P.- before … [Read more...]

Blaise Cepis shoots Happy Naked People.

Photographer Blaise Cepis's work is provocative, whimsical, absurd, disturbing, but also really kind of funny. Based in NYC, Blaise spent a decade as an art/creative director for brands in an advertising capacity before transitioning to personal work full time. He also started Scratch Press with John Codling and Craig Damrauer, a small publishing company that makes limited edition art books in batches of 25. Check those out, they are rad. In his own words "I like to make my work feel like a world that I don’t live in but have lived in for a brief moment. I want every picture I take to … [Read more...]

Pineapples are Trending.

There is not one day that goes by, that I don't see some kind of pineapple art, wallpaper, t-shirt, photography, even pineapple cookies coming up in my feeds, the blogs I read etc. So I think its safe to say pineapples are trending right now. (As are donuts with pink icing and sprinkles, and popsicles.) The internet is strange. I did my own spoof series- Click through, they are awesome. A  little day in the life of Piney the Pineapple. It felt kind of like Piney was my fake baby that I had to take everywhere with me (a la sitcom trope) or like I was shooting that Travelocity gnome around the … [Read more...]

My Photography on One Kings Lane!

More ridiculously cool stuff going on this week! (When it rains, it pours?) My photos, along with that of several other UPLO photographers has been included in a classic and contemporary ONE KINGS LANE photography sale. SO exciting and fun, but also intimidating! I mean look who else is included in the sale.... Wait - look how meta this is, as I was typing this, my own photo popped up as an ad for OKL on my blog... HA!!!!  All the UPLO stuff is of framed prints, and is on until Friday April 25. Check it out! … [Read more...]

Capa in Color.

Yesterday I popped into ICP's Capa in Color exhibit. The show presents the color photography of famed photojournalist and wartime photographer Robert Capa for the first time ever. Known predominately for his work in black and white, this is a rare chance to see 125 of his never before seen photos. He began using color film as early as the 1940s and usually had at least 2 cameras around his neck at all times. One for color, one for black and white. He would sell his stories to various magazines for lifestyle shoots, but through the years this aspect of his work has been forgotten. “Capa’s … [Read more...]
