DESIGN | Diana Studios Colorful Condo.

Diana Studios is a boutique design firm founded in 2009 by principal designer Beth Diana Smith. Based out of Northern NJ, Diana Studios caters to the tri-state area with design services that range from full scale renovations to prop styling and event planning. Beth, who has a masters in Accounting, had spent years in corporate finance before eventually changing directions and realizing her true passion was for design. Patrick Cline shot one of her NJ projects a few weeks back, and we thought it had a cool global vibe. We admire the bold use of color, something were sometimes lacking here at … [Read more...]

An Exclusive Look | Celerie Kemble’s Playa Grande

Remember seeing Celerie Kemble's Dominican Republic dreamscape in last month's AD? A magical resort of 13 bungalows that she designed on 2,000 acres along a stretch of sand called Playa Grande? It's a pastellica heaven that looks like it's made of celadon icing and Chantilly lace. After AD published them, I just wanted to see MORE? Know what I mean? I knew Patrick Cline had shot the resort for Celerie months before, and we got the thumbs up to share all his never-before-seen photos of Playa Grande on the blog! I've been so excited to share this with you all, and I could hardly narrow it down … [Read more...]

Hillary Thomas Designs an Aspen Ski House | Domaine Home.

My latest story for Domaine Home is up! Hillary Thomas and her team deck out a 1970's cinderblock house in Aspen, Colorado for a client with a tight deadline - ski season- and a ridiculous art collection... She sent Patrick Cline out to shoot the place, and we shared the space and her behind the scenes take on the design on Domaine Home. In the mean time, here are some of my favorite outtakes! Read all about it HERE.  I'm mildly obsessed with that bathroom. Have a great day! Photos by Patrick Cline … [Read more...]

Michele Bönan’s Casa Tua, Aspen.

Have you ever been inside a Michele Bönan designed space? His work, including the JK Place Hotels, and the Casa Tua and Cipriani restaurants in Miami, have a very special quality about them. Even though they are commercial projects, you come away thinking: "I want to live like this."  They have a residential feeling about them, blending comfort and luxury in such a seamless way. It's not an accident, “I like to say that everyone should live at home like they’re in a hotel, and in a hotel like they’re at home,” Bönan explains. “You want the best of both, hotel service and home comfort.” So … [Read more...]

Today I'm reposting an oldie but a goodie. Back in 2010, the Kelly Wearstler renovation of The Avalon Hotel was featured in LONNY magazine. Shot by Patrick Cline, of course, it was still so new that the guest rooms hadn't been revealed yet! He claims this is one of his favorite shoots ever. This was just at the beginning of Kelly Mania, just as she was starting a product line, a fashion line, a blog, an instagram- it was right as she was going from design-world celebrity to real-world, household name celebrity. I think it's also the moment that web based content and exposure started becoming … [Read more...]
