I DONT CARE, I LOVE IT.

Sketch42 painting

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone. I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn. I threw your shit into a bag and pushed it down the stairs. I crashed my car into the bridge. I DONT CARE, I LOVE IT! I DONT CARE!  I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone. I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn. I threw your shit into a bag and pushed it down the stairs. I crashed my car into the bridge. I DONT CARE, I LOVE IT! I DONT CARE!  You're on a different road, I'm in the milky way. You want me … [Read more...]

ART: Airport InSecurity

tirtzah Bassel

A friend of mine pointed me in the direction of the work of Tirzah Bassel. Tirzah is an Israeli artist whose work centers around the idea of intimacy in public places. Her work often focuses on the airport, and the subway, spaces where that public and private are blurred and physical encounters that are not a normal part of society are excepted.  Tirzah works with oil paint, but also with duct tape. As you look through the work, and see people getting their hair blown … [Read more...]

THE COMEBACK: ZONA Pop Up Shop at Cheryl Hazan Gallery.

zona

A few nights ago, I was invited to the opening of the ZONA pop up shop, at the Cheryl Hazan Gallery. For those too young to remember, ZONA was born in the early eighties in a slowly blossoming artsy new neighborhood called SOHO. Now it is common to see products that celebrate their origins, but back in the early 80's, ZONA was IT for … [Read more...]

Live from Miami, folks! Here are some photos I took running around today, and hanging on the beach. I think the paparazzi shot needs to be framed its so awesome and meta. The rest are scenes from around Miami, some in the Design District... Retna on the Louis Vuitton store, reflected in the Hermes window is another favorite. A wooden art bar sculpture was made for photographs, an artist at work... some other people at work.... etc etc.   Stay tuned! … [Read more...]

The White Art.

Daniel Romualdez

Yesterday, The Wall Street Journal Magazine ran an article about the 4 homes of architect Daniel Romualdez. They are all awesome... really... but I just stopped in my tracks when I saw THE WHITE PAINTING. I've spoken about my love of the monochrome painting before... HERE and HERE. But what do you think of this white canvas, framed simply in brass? I mean, we obviously cant see what kind of texture is happening there. But what if there is none? What if its just a flat white canvas? Then what? While we think about that, lets look at Romualdez's homes, huh? These images are collected from the … [Read more...]
