As much as I love color, simple black and white gets me every time.

Welcome to Monday morning everyone!

BAM!

I saw the second image on Maison21′s tumblr which is now one of my favorite places to browse for inspiration. Thanks Christian!
So obviously, I had to find out who was awesome enough to make that floor, so I followed the link and viola: PRODUCTORA, A Mexico City based design firm. This project is the CELESTE CHAMPAGNE & TEA ROOM.
“PRODUCTORA was charged with the architectural remodeling of a 1940s-era house for the design of a stylish champagne bar & tea room. The design focused on the creation of one single tile that could generate a variety of patterns and changes in direction throughout the whole floor plan. This piece is repeated over the whole floor and onto the lower parts of the walls, creating a strong dividing horizon between a quiet above and a below charged with information.”

I wonder why more people dont do awesomely patterned floors. Jamie Herzlinger does it, Mary Mcdonald does it, Nick Olsen and Miles Redd do it, The Mark Hotel did it…. Hmmmmmm.
These particular floors are totally glamourous, but because they arent so glossy they are totally understated and cool too. Especially in this case- I feel like the restaurant is really restrained and reigned in, despite the patterned floors. *Just one thing- I could have done without the taxidermy.
Thoughts?
My little girly is moving into a big girl bed- because its time, but also because I need the crib for baby #2. (Buying two cribs is on my NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN list along with owning a double stroller. I hate every single stroller I own (3- for the record and its because they sit in my living room) and the double strollers are the biggest most hulking mass of ugly that I could imagine.(How do I get around with both kids? I let Cookie stand on that little platform that attaches to the bugaboo. Not a perfect system but I dont go too far with both of them.)… As I have heard someone say- “One kid is an accessory, two kids are a minivan.”
Anyway, I digress…. Cookie needs a daybed.
I originally planned on making a custom tufted, coral leather day bed, with a trundle. I dont have any pictures of this idea… but its kinda what I wanted to do from the beginning.
Then I saw this:

Its a Lily Pulitzer Daybed available via Horchow HERE. Kinda pretty, huh? I think I would still reupholster it, maybe have it match the wallpaper, all english country house style. What do you think?
Then I started browsing for some other options:

Ballard Designs

Oly Studio
Also Ballard Designs
And then of course, there is always this daybed that my friend designed for her daughter’s nursery:

The entire house is so chic, its really worth another look: HERE.
And in case you forgot what Cookie’s nursery looks like:

The bed is going right where the crib is. Changing table is moving.
Thoughts? Ideas?
In 2003, Lenny Kravitz established a design firm… I honestly have no idea what his involvement is, but the firm definitely has his aesthetic all over it.
Im curious to hear what you all think about this project they did in Paris.

I cant judge without knowing what the space looked like before they got to it. Did they just do furniture? Or did they design floors, moldings etc…
There is no doubt that the raw space is magnificent. These floors are HEAVENLY.

But what of the traditional edgy meets glam Philippe Starck at The Delano style decor. Yea or Nay?

This is not his first lucite piano!
This is not what I would do in this room… but what do you think?
Also! Dont forget, tonight- drinks at the Bungalow 5 Showroom!

I saw these tassels in a magazine a few days ago… Town and Country to be exact. (I dont even want to get into my reaction to the magazine which I read cover to cover for the first time in years, maybe ever. OK, OK, I will. I just dont get it. At all. I actually checked the date of the magazine to make sure it wasnt old because it seemed so retro… I think it may just be aimed at the schooner owning, country club going blue blooded Americans?)
Anyway, I totally did a little mental bonding with these tie backs.
They are designed by Roger Thomas for Samuel and Sons and they are available in 7 different colors.
Cute arent they?
