Blue couch + Gallery wall in the 1960′s….

Meet your grandchild:
The blue couch and gallery wall of the 2010s (What do I call this decade – people?)

Hmmm….. Not exactly the same, but still fun to look at!
{First photo is from a vintage Benjamin Moore catalog, the second via Lonny.}
NYIGF: Obsessions… Moroccan Furniture.
The NYIGF is my idea of heaven and hell all wrapped into one. I seriously almost went into labor from walking around that absolutely GINORMOUS hell hole called the Javitz. UGH. On the other hand, its all kinds of fun and crazy.
Anyway, my first obsession of the show isssss…. Moroccan furniture. It was everywhere, but I loved this collection from Badia Designs, mostly because it was just so different from everything else!
Since you all saw every single angle of my entire house, you know that this is not really how I decorate. But sometimes what I LOVE and what I actually implement are two different things. I am always drawn to rustic, ethnic and textured pieces but boho is definitely not what I would call my apartment!
This one was my favorite of the entire show:

Its something to build an ENTIRE ROOM around! And its almost creepy, snakey or something, but I just love it.

A little end table could work if you are too chicken…. (Or if you want to get your home onto the cover of Elle Decor: Design people always joke that to get your room on the cover of ED all you need is a Moroccan table and some cherry blossoms!)

This chest- AND all the rugs and textiles really rocked my world.
BUT:

This vase stopped me in my tracks. I dont know if you can tell, but it’s almost 4 feet tall.
You can custom order different chests, dressers and tables. I wish I had a room to build around that first piece. Simple: white, black, taupe. Mmmmmm…..

Another sexy chair: The wishbone.
I think I love every version of this chair.
The black is super sleek and sexy:

But candy colored versions… yea, those are good too.

And we have all seen the pepto pink chairs done by designers for charity during breast cancer awareness month right?

When something sticks around for 60 years, I guess that means its a keeper?
(BTW- Today my mom is dragging me to a taping of the Dr. Oz show. Its not that I dont like him… but I think I had enough talk show tapings for one year. I guess since I made her come to Nate Day I owe her one?)
Design Spy: Lindsey Adelman at Barneys.
If you love design and shopping Bergdorfs is the most intoxicating place on the planet. Every time I am there, I see some new furniture that I just want to kiss. Its not for sale or anything, just randomly placed through the store.
Barney’s is also a favorite spot for furniture porn… So imagine my delight when I happened upon this brass masterpiece in the men’s department yesterday:

I cant confirm this 100% because there was no one to ask, but I believe that is a Lindsey Adelman… Yes? I didnt crop the picture so that you could see the scale of this thing… It was MASSIVE!
I checked her installation gallery to see if the Barneys installation was pictured… but alas, it was not.
Some of my favorites:

(I love almost every library I see, but this messy jam-packed library is great. Kill the orchid and ditch that candle on the table though.)

(Should we talk about the man with two faces and the penis with 4 testicles on the table?)
This one could be my favorite.

See Lindsey’s work HERE. She also has tutorials on how to make your own fixture kinda like hers, HERE. (And in case you think I am going crazy, no, I know I once wrote about this before.)
The thing about Barneys and Bergdorfs is that they change the furniture in the store so often that its really fun to go wander around there and look at stuff… even if you dont buy anything!
(If any Bergdorf or Barney’s execs are reading… I would love to get like a little permission slip to walk around the store and take pictures without having to SNEAK! Maybe the prop people could give me a little tour? Ah… a girl can dream.)
