Here’s an idea: 4. uses for an armless sofa.
This couch from Cb2:

Its really long and low, and its big, deep and really gushy… I swear it looks better in person, although why they had to ruin it with those horrible legs, I don’t know. But this couch can be the jumping off point for many a successful room… Here’s how.
1. You have a huge, long or tunnel-y living room, don’t know what to do? Use two of these to make a super long, low sectional type couch? Yes. That’s swanky.

2.You have a tight corner in a room and need a cozy nook, place two of these perpendicular to each other= L shaped goodness.

3. You want a low, sexy daybed type couch but you don’t want to spend a lot of money. Buy this and reupholster it in something good… Like a soft gushy leather… HOT. And please, whatever you do, paint those horrible legs.

4. You can put them back to back… well technically, you can put any two couches back to back, but I think these would do well, keep in mind they are over 42″ deep, so thats some serious space coverage. But, if you have real estate to cover, and not that big of a budget… consider this.

Number one is BY FAR my favorite choice. I actually love that room, and that all blue canvas. I LOVE that all blue canvas… Anyway.
The couch is $1299 HERE. But until Nov 28, if you donate 7 cans of food in store to Cb2′s food drive you will receive 15% off. HERE. And no, they don’t pay me for this. But like I said, I see it, and I squirrel it away for posts, or for future use.

The Best of Pier 94 NYIGF, August 2011.
Like I said yesterday, I love/hate NYIGF, case in point, at around 4 PM I literally started to get feverish and achey and felt like I had the flu. The gift fair will do that to you. (Also, I skipped a lot of feedings. All of them, all day. Is that why? Is this TMI?)
Anyway, here are some of my favorite things from around the show:
Best faux room: Loved this vignette from Festoni Home.

I loved this red chair, also from Festoni, and the Cy Twombly style art… made by the owners husband!
Most fun textiles, Design Legacy:
I bought some of these from the “Pagoda Collection” for Cookie’s room.

Fun reclaimed furniture, Studio Salvage Crafts:
Woven leather rag rug. I need you:
Best new etagere, World’s Away.
It looks like the one by Pheobe Howard that I tried to hunt down and cost 6K.

From Julian Chichester, these swing arm industrial pendant sconces. Great for a room with no overhead lighting.

I loved these little drawings of the Kachina warriors by Natural Curiosities.

Also by Natural Curiosities, these black, white and hand silver leafed graphic patterns.
This company calls themselves “The American Hermes”, Ceramics by Waylande Gregory.

I LOOOVED these stools. Amazing.
My favorite Bone InLay piece, by Manglam Arts. LOVE this for a bathroom, or guest room.
Marble bowl by Made Goods. I actually bought their black and white stool that I LOVED last time.
Dransfield and Ross goes boho:
And…. that’s all for right now, Im going to look through my photos again.
But this is the stuff that caught my eye. I’ve been to the show so many times that if it isnt new it doesnt even register to me.
Have a good day everyone!
These sconces are taunting me.
I am really convinced that these are the right sconces for a project I am working on.
The problem is, the client doesnt. He thinks they are “too tall to reflect light properly on the face.” Because we are having them on either side of a mirror. I think we need them to balance the height of the mirror… its a big mirror.
And now I keep seeing them everywhere.
First on Gossip Girl, in Serena’s Room at Blair’s house. (I still cant figure out why she has a room there, and where the heck are Blair’s parents?!?)

Then I noticed them while browsing through Jamie Herzlinger’s portfolio the other day (again!):
And then just now, I saw them on Flourish Design + Style in the double version:

Im being haunted by a light fixture. Does that ever happen to you?
(In case you were wondering, they are the Ruhlmann Sconce by Circa lighting.)
ZigZags: High, Medium, Low.

Nearly identical chevron rugs.
I have yet to see the low end version of this rug, but $69 for a 5′ x 7′ rug !!!! You pretty much cant beat that. I especially love the idea of the cheap one because chevron is so trendy… I’m gonna say cheap and cheerful is definitely the way to go on this one!
Someone please make this room:
I want to sell of my entire apartment and start over. I know you all feel like this once in a while too. (I’m not going to, but I want to.)
Anyway… This is how I would do jewel tones: Mixed with pastels and masculine neutrals.
