ABCD Design’s Amazing Country House.

DSC_3566 Every so often, I like to tell you guys which blog posts YOU MUST click through to this week. THIS ONE!!!!! The Connecticut home of trained chef, artist, floral designer and all around generally awesome Amy Beth Cupp Dragoo, also known as the genius behind ABCD Designs, is probably my favorite shoot of all time. She invited me out to her home this summer to shoot it and I stayed over for the night, shooting, antiquing, hanging, eating! It was really delightful. It’s my favorite because, well, look at it. High gloss white floors, black window sashes, vintage furniture up the kazoo, ridiculously cool collections – Amy even inspired me to start my own collections too! The home – which is a series of three barns and a big house, was styled to perfection and all I had to do was point a camera anywhere to get an amazing shot. It was EASY. Domaine Home loved the shoot so much, they decided to feature it as well! So an interview that I wrote with lots of Amy’s inspiration and ideas about design and making a home is up there right now! You should hop over and read that, and also more pics! Domaine also has links to shop the home, of course! Amy is like a hipper Martha Stewart, isn’t she? OK, lets see the house, it’s a pinnable feast, I tell you!

  1. You are amazing Nicole! I adore how you captured the Country House – you’ve got the best eye and I appreciate that there wasn’t a ton of styling going on. You just captured it the way it is – and I love that. (OMG, you remember how steamy it was? Hah!) I seriously want you back to capture Fall and Winter too!

Thanks again, it is truly beautiful.

    • One of my favorite interiors shoots of all time!!! ABCD, you are a genius lady!!! This country house is going to be in the back of my mind forever….until I have my own one day (in the event, I will be calling you!). Bravo, Nic! xx

Beautiful home! May I ask what the exterior color is in the last photo? I really like it against the black doors. Thanks.

  1. […] I didn’t really think much of collections – mine or any other until I went to visit my friend Amy at her lovely country home in the northwestern-most corner of Connecticut last Spring. Her home is gorgeous and has been featured in many magazines from New England Home to Better Homes and Gardens. Amy has many collections throughout her home and each tells a story. What makes them so spectacular is that they are all grouped together and not simply scattered throughout. They tell a story and make a bold decorating statement. Collectibles, haphazardly placed throughout the home can tend to look junky, silly and amateurish… Think of the Crazy Old Cat Lady with her cat figurines in every room… Below, starting with images taken of Amy’s home by the amazingly talented Nicole Cohen of Sketch 42. For more of Nicole’s images of Amy’s home click here.
