The perfect tourist day in NYC consists of these things: a good workout in the AM, a museum, lunch al fresco, some shopping, plenty of time in “nature” along with coffee pit stops and a great drink to cap it off. Last week was one of my last days in NYC this summer, so Cookie, Raquel, Stephanie (my new intern and sister!) and I did NYC up good. A quarter way through we realized our plan might be the perfect NYC tourist day and so we decided to record it, and share it using cookie GNOME-like in all the photos. Of course, there are a million different ways to do this day, a million different combinations of museum/park/shopping area/restaurant and this is just one of them. But it was fun. And if you are a tourist hanging out in NYC, this wouldnt be a bad way to spend a day. Not at all. Obviously, what you do in a city when you are a tourist depends on what type of tourist you are (Statue of Liberty/Big Ben type VS restaurants/cafes and “lifestyle touring” type) and how many times you’ve been there. But when I play tourist in my city, usually when the kids are off from school, this is what I like to do.
The MoMa. We tried to see the Rain Room exhibit, but the line was 6 hours long. For members. So that was a no go. But we went inside anyway, and I thoroughly enjoyed a photography exhibit, and the 1980-today exhibit. Of course, on a beautiful day, the sculpture garden is a must.

Hop in a taxi while eating a NYC pretzel. Some are gross, some are yummy.
Pop in to Bar Pitti. The food is delicious. You can eat outside without a wait, and the other diners are usually gorgeous European ex models and other good looking people who dont seem to work.

Start walking over to Washington Square Park.
Grab some THINK Coffee for the road. The glow of Macbook Pros from the cafe will light the way.
Washington Square Park is a GLORIOUS respite from the city for a little while. Sunbathers enjoy the smell of roses as a jazz band plays a tune.
If you’re a little hot….
You can swim in the fountain with the children! It’s right out of an F Scott Fitzgerald novel.
Grab a citi bike or walk to Soho! It’s quick.
Between Broadway and West Broadway there are mainstream shops like Miu Miu, Prada, Intermix, Chanel, The Apple Store, Cb2, and TopShop. For furniture my favorites are Aero and Flair. But if you walk further east down Prince or Spring you will find cute little shops on Mott and Mullberry.
End the day with cocktails at the secret garden Crosby Hotel Bar.

Then take the subway back home for a much needed shower!
Of course, there are a million combinations of city perfection, and this is just one way to experience it! Hope you have a great weekend!
