Vacation DIY: Embroidered Beach Hat.

Hola Folks!

Sooooo…While on vacation I didn’t really WORK but I did spontaneously decide to embroider my hat while siting at Bonj Les Bains one day. Ya see, everyone was wearing straw hats in Croatia, and while I typically look like a toolbag in hats, when in Rome- right? So I happened to have embroidery thread and a needle on hand (I’m working on a badass needle point but thats a story for another day!) and when the DIY twitch kicked in (around when the needlepoint got boring), I indulged. I basically just made it up as I went along, combining X shapes, Starburst type shapes and little strokes. That is actually the BACK of the hat, not the front.

Here is a simple tutorial, but there is no wrong way to do it:

And there you go! Its actually one of my favorite DIY’s. Looks so legit, it didn’t take a long time and it wasn’t messy. Good news all around.

And here it is on my head, this shot was done just for your viewing pleasure yesterday after my tennis lesson:

(I just have to note here… I effing hate baby hair. My kid is almost 18 months old… and yet, I still can’t wear a bun.)

Enjoy! Hope you liked this project, even though it looks like it may have CANCUN written on it somewhere, I love it!

Thank you! I don’t really use anything! I just wash and go, sometimes if its a fluffy day I put a dollop of Arrojo styling whip in it… I think in these pictures its post-ocean hair, which is the best for curls!
