It’s almost too easy to blog about the newly minted Manhattan offices of Aerin, a new business venture by Can-Do-N0-Wrong design darling Aerin Lauder. The woman is just so damn tasteful. And by that I mean, the arbiter of good taste, not just a person who acts and designs appropriately, although she does that too. When in Aspen, she does Aspen, PERFECTLY. Her ski chalet is what all ski chalet’s DREAM of being when they grow up. When in NYC, she does NYC glamour, and when she is the Hamptons she does the best damn coastal chic you could imagine. It doesn’t hurt that her go-to decorator is Jacques Grange, the man who brought us The Mark!
It should come as a surprise to no one that she is launching a lifestyle brand of home and fashion stuffs to harness all that good taste and blogging and reblogging of impeccably well chosen products and turn it into some do-rei-me. (I wouldn’t be that surprised if Jenna Lyons started a design/home decor company too… come to think of it, it’s actually surprising that she hasn’t! Prediction: Jenna Lyons will start a decor/design venture in the next year.)

The photos of the Aerin offices were featured in this month’s AD, which I caught up on over the weekend. The office is on 57th and 5th in a converted art gallery and Aerin is set to launch this summer.. Here are my thoughts: The wall to wall seagrass through out MAKES the space. It sets the color palate firmly in the white and tan realm, cozies the place up a bit and adds an air of unfussiness to the rooms- that are decorated more like a home than an office. Imagine the rooms with dark wood floors, yes they would still be beautiful, but the Aerinness lies in the choice of rug. At least I think it does.
And as far as sisal and seagrass go, I think its still really only a hit with decorators and decor minded folk…its in every show house room I’ve ever been in (hyperbole, but you get the point) but its in very few homes I visit… Thoughts?
Anyway, hope you enjoyed your weekend and Father’s Day!
All photos are from Architectural Digest. I also really enjoyed this gallery of Aerin’s homes on Elledecor.com HERE.

The mirror in the first pic is to die for!
Funny you should mention your design prediction re: Jenna Lyon! This weekend, my design nut friends and I were just placing bets on when J. Crew would branch into home decor. It really feels like they’re on the brink, doesn’t it? Even if they aren’t, it’s a blast imagining what that line (and catalog) would look like. But I sure hope they are…
I agree Aerin has an beautiful design aesthetic! I have to say though… how ridiculous is the collection of items on top of the filing cabinets? I mean maybe it was just styled for the shoot but it seems really useless to use up space for place settings, sunglasses and wine decanters. And the sun hats on top of the buffet? WHY? At least in my office- when i pull things out of the filing cabinets- chances are I’m going to stand there with a stack of papers flipping through and searching for what I need- this looks like more of a home than an office. Beautiful, but not exactly what i call functional.
I don’t know why, but I assumed it was the actual products for her collection. Looked like a table setting and some other stuff that they might sell. And maybe the straw hats are part of her line too… she is doing some fashion stuff, so wouldn’t be surprising.
I am still waiting on your post about a place to buy good artwork lees than 20k each
There are tons of places! 20 x 200, etsy, saatchi….
