Attention BLOGGERS, crafters and women of all ages!

I’ve sat by for 3+ months now without saying it… but now I finally have to. I like myself some sequined something, I can deal with some glitz and glamour. BUT THIS IS TOO MUCH. Everytime I tune into pinterest or instagram all i see is GLITTER GLITTER GLITTER!!!! Glitter shoes, glitter nails, glitter clothes, ACTUAL GLITTER!!!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever had a trend that I don’t jive with as much as glitter nail polish. Im a painter, and manicures are not really a great idea… if you know what I mean, and LEAST OF ALL, GLITTERY NAILS?!?! When did it become sixth grade again? I don’t even like when Cookie picks out the glitter nail polish, AND SHES 3!!!!!!
I know, I know, you sit by as I discuss my endless love of black and white and of course, you indulged me through my obsession with neon… but can we all PLEASE move on to something new?
Im just not a girly girl and I never will be, and I feel ill at ease with the current zeitgeist amongst bloggers. Where are all the mascu-lovers like me? (And can you please post more?)
Feel free to hate me now. (Please don’t!)
But Im giving you all until Christmas. Tis the time for glitter, I can admit it. But after that, can we PLEASE move onto floral prints? Or go back to color blocking? I liked that! Ill even start making friendship bracelets again!
Soooooo: Glitter! Is anyone else over it too?

Fine then……there goes your glitter outlined Christmas card with glitter ink and a glitter envelope. Hope you are happy now
And I think at heart we all are magpies…..
Haha! I would be thrilled to have a glitter xmas card from you! I just wouldn’t WEAR IT!!!
xxxxxx,
N
haha…the glitter trend doesnt bother me, but i certainly was thinking yesterday about how it is all over everything all the time now…and its getting a wee bit old.
Uch the glitter on nails makes me so nauseous! Thought I was the only one!
Ha! I never noticed that glitter was a trend right now and I live on pinterest (come visit me!) http://pinterest.com/kimkouri/
but I’m warning you now, I have a skull board and I know you’re not digging skulls either!
Hahaha! I LOVE skulls compared to glitter… And guess what- there are glitter skulls!
Maybe I just need to follow new people
LOL. But I don’t think glitter is going away anytime soon….let Christmas and New Year’s pass then make your plea. I think people may be on your side by then
Oh yea, for sure. Ill wait until New Years before I really declare a glitter war!
I write a jewelry blog so a lot of my posts are filled with glitz, but I’m with you….I like a little masculine chic sometimes. Have you heard of this blog: http://tomboystyle.blogspot.com/ don’t know if it’s what you’re looking for, but still pretty great!
Wait… You mean you don’t want to show us how to DIY glitter ankle boots??
Amen sista, amen
Guilty, guilty and guilty!!!! I wore black nail polish with gold glitter last week it was totally rad!!!! I don’t usually wear glitter, but I do wear crystals and sequins. It’s a problem , I know. Is there a glitter rehab? I even bought Swarovski crystals and am gluing them all over a pair of heels sonindont have to spend 3000$ on Louboutins!!! Bad???? :-/
I need to see these.
I dont hate all crystalized things… and I daresay- i should not bite the hand that feeds me LITERALLY- but
yes, we need to see the shoes.
I agree! but you’d never know it since it’s called Sparkles and Sprinkles. Ok so I started the board several months ago. Take an ibuprofen before you look.
I am way over the glitter these days, but the stores are cranking it out….and that awful purple. Nast

Nuevo Years Resolution UNO. no more Glitter.

EMbarrassed…I meant to say I have a board on pininterest called Sparkles and Sprinkles. see just the thought of it…;)
hahaha! don’t be embarrassed, its easy to fall into sparkly things BUT we can all come to our senses now, right?
Funny thing is, i kinda liked sequins last year… I have some amazing sequin vintage tops from my grandma. I don’t hate em… but this whole thing is just too much.
I’m a fan of glitter…..in moderation. I actually DIY’d some ornaments this week and finished them with glitter. I do like the glitter on nails and I have seen some shoes that have glitter that are actually pretty cute. What I do not like is Rhinestones. That is a trend/item gone wrong. I hated that phase when girls would walk around looking like a Bedazzled threw up on them. Or flaunting shirts that said “Gold Digger” that were in gold rhinestones. Or the belts…..you get my point. Death to rhinestones before glitter.
I think you can figure out how I feel about rhinestones. No words spelled out in rhinestones can ever be cute. EVER. Im not into bedazzling.
AND I JUST REALIZED I actually OWN glitter looking shoes. I wore them to my sons bris!
Oh and its perfectly appropriate to have glitter ornaments. Thats one of those instances where glitter is AOK.
lol too funny! great post!
I am SO with you. Here is my top items I want to see go away:
- glitter
- the rainbow obsession
- owls
- animals in general, although I do think the rhino is the next trend
- ruffles
- stupid quotes
- overly fem silliness (so with you on the black and white color scheme)
There I said it. Out of my system.
OWLS. Shit. I for the life of me CANNOT figure out what people like about them.
I do like rainbows… but how could I not? I paint!
Stupid quotes are nothing compared to words on walls. THATS the worst.
I would also like to add mustaches.
Touché.
aww.. I saw an owl at the aquarium a few weeks ago..they’re pretty cute in person lol just not as jewelry.
Thank you!! I like glitter but its TOO much!! Its everywhere all the time!
Love the post – and agree on the glitter overdose!
Hmm, I guess you told “them”….that should do it! Personally, …Zie Ga Zink!
“Them”… I always get annoyed when people say… “THEY SAID…” WHO THE HECK ARE THEY!
The problem is that I’ve always loved glitter, rainbows and ruffles! It hasn’t been a year, more like 20. I put myself on a print detox and have only been wearing black for the past 3 months! When I see rainbows it makes me happy. Not your usual rainbow but anything with different variations of color together. I don’t think I’ll ever dislike rhinestones though. It makes me happy!!! I’m out of style I know
I like that though~ you stick to what you like. Its more than a passing trend for you, its YOUR TASTE. Which is GREAT!!! Everyone should embrace the things that make them happy…
for me, that is worn in leather & black clothes. BUT then again, I love a good tie dye and live for neon…
All Im saying is: as a society, its time to move on. Just a bit. But you can still love it;)
Too funny. Thanks for keeping it real. I may like hot pink, but I wouldn’t say I’m girly either. Even the word glitter makes me want to gag.
I would love an occasion to wear a fabulous sequined dress, but other than that, I’m over it.
I dont think glitter is a trend – its been around forever. I happen to love it but I can see if you don’t, it would annoy.
I’m ok with glitter around the holidays- I agree with Shanika about the glitter ornaments- love those. But I have a feeling that after New Years I might have the same feelings as you do about glitter.
Totally guilty! Love sequins, although I never wear them or glitter. I blame my mother for making sequined ornaments with me as a kid and now I associate it all with warm happy memories. (I am now doing that to my kids and turning them into little magpies too).
I am not into the whole girly thing at all, but I have to tell you when I am making ornaments there is something completely magical about a bowl full of sequins in a lite brites kind of way. I have actually considered putting a dishful out as an “accessory” (please don’t cringe) – but I have kids and they’d be everywhere.
That bowl full of sequins line makes me love you!!!
NO! Long live glitter nails! Lol. I agree with everything else tho
.
Hahah! I know how you feel about glitter nails!
My entire life I’ve done nothing but neutrals and French manicures, I missed the glitter phase in Jr. High – let me have my moment! It will have dissolved come January. Lol
Haha, I think we’re going to see even more at least through christmas- and new years. New Years is definitely a glittery holiday! Sorry girl!
