If there is a heaven, this is what I imagine going into the light to be like…
I see a white light… its calm and soothing, yet somehow mysterious… where is this taking me? A beach house’s deck? A sun dappled bedroom? A merry little collection of children’s rooms? A secret library? Who knows… but its probably going to be good, isn’t it?
All in all, its heavenly. I know this would calm me right down if I were going to meet my maker.
Sooo, now the big question: What does my stairway to hell look like?
Um, let’s see:
How bout the back stairwell from last years Kips Bay? Haha… Its PERFECT! (I couldn’t have gotten a better photo for this if I googled “stairway to hell”, and trust me, I did.) I mean, I get that the designers were textile designers and I don’t HATE the textile, and I get that its supposed to be theatrical, but DOESNT IT look like its leading somewhere ominous? A dungeon? South Park’s Saddam and the Devil are sitting up there aren’t they, its like a the set for a scene in a vulgar yet comic tragedy.
I aint cray-cray am I?
(Oh and also, this isn’t a religious post, and it doesn’t represent my views or not views on heaven and hell. Its about staircases, and their inherent ability to be somehow mysterious and supernatural feeling. Thats all.)
