I found this old robe in a pile of give aways at my Mom’s house… It had no belt and no one could remember where it came from.
RESCUED!
I then decided to dip dye it.
First, I took the part above the loops and wrapped it in a plastic bag, and secured it with rubber bands, so that no dye could touch the top half. In the past, I have had dye travel up the garment I was dip dying and then the top wouldnt really ever be fully white again, just a pale version of the bottom.
Then, I made a bucket of Teal Rit Dye. I dipped the center part of the robe into it, let it sit for a few minutes with the bottom and the top half both out of the bucket.
Then I added Kelly Green Rit Dye to the same bucket and put the bottom third into it and let it sit for about ten minutes.
Then I hosed it off… and VOILA:

The pattern was already on the robe, but the dye made it more visible.

We styled it with a brown leather belt that came with a pair of ZARA trousers, since it had no belt. I think Im going to use a rope for everyday purposes.
I’m actually drinking coffee sitting in this robe right now writing this post! Will my obsession with dye never end? Who knows! I still have the vat of Kelly Green/Teal mixture hanging out…. What’s next?
Happy Friday everyone!

Don’t end the dye obsession! I love all the creations!
Love the colors, and comfortable, yes!
