Updates at the MIL’s Apartment.

I really dont want to show you un-styled, un-accessorized and messy shots of this project, but I went there today and I honestly dont know when all the nitty gritty details will get done!

First off, I dont want to even call this “decorating”… Instead, I call it “renovating” because the main bulk of the work that we did was a near gut renovation of the actual apartment. I pieced together the furniture from various sources and much of it was already my MIL’s and in storage…

I think its also important to mention that I did this place FOR MY IN LAWS. Not myself. There were many times where I would have chosen something else for myself personally, but for my in laws I went with what I thought would suit them best. Case in point: a sectional… Not my top choice for a living room, but they love a sectional! There are more examples like that, and I will get into it all when I do a full reveal.

For now, its still not done: We need art, drapery, pillows, accessories, books etc etc… But I felt I just had to show you some before and afters so you can see the progress we have made!

Kitchen:

The kitchen hadnt been changed in at least 20 years…

Master Bedroom:

(As you can see, the cable guy was there hooking up the tv today!)

Living room and den will follow next week!

I love seeing this place finally come together! I hope you all enjoy the process and seeing the behind the scenes. If you have any questions let me know!

  1. I love that the rooms look much brighter. They even seem more airy (if that even makes sense). Great work!

    • It makes sense! I knocked down tons of walls,(making it an open kitchen) ripped off cornices and archways, took away ugly drapes and shades. It get great natural light now that I cleared away all the crap!

  2. NICOLE, WHAT A GENIUS…WE LOVE EVERYTHING YOU DID. YOU’RE AMAZZZZING!!!! WHAT AN EYE FOR DESIGN. THANKS….

    • I need to look it up when I go there, we had a ton on the wall and we picked one. Its from the historical deck of Benjamin Moore… Maybe Buxton blue? Not sure… but ill let you know.

  3. Fabulous! You brought the apartment to this generation! and of course, stylishly and totally awesome! i love that its so clean looking, and just very simple and to the point, but not too modern. LOVE the nightstands !
