In my next life, or apartment:

I’m going to use more color for sure.

{It just struck me that all these pictures are some version of  green and red/pink… and yet they look nothing like Xmas.)

I snagged all these images from the blog I Suwannee... Jamie Meares  who writes it and also owns the decorating boutique FURBISH(one of my fave internet shops),  lives by the mantra that you can put every color and print with every other color with abandon and achieve excellent results!

Her house is a colorful heaven and it was just in featured in High Gloss Magazine:

(Jamie’s bedroom)

It’s the complete opposite of my look now and I love it.

  1. Joe Nye’s apartment is an old favorite of mine. Have you seen his book? The man is brilliant.

  2. Really nice images. Color is all the rage right now.

  3. Oooh pretty! Thanks for sharing, I had never heard of FURBISH before!

  4. I’M DOING IT NOW! Leaving the sunset pastels for royal purple livingroom, huron blue diningroom and fearless green in the kitchen! Here’s hoping it works…I will post it…all brought on by a Fuchsia pink poodle!

  5. A great color philosophy to live by!
You can do this in your current apartment, starting with those green doors you talked about :-)
In fact you are on the way to evolving – I love the black and white thing you have going. Doing black and white right such as you have done is not that easy. It takes much thought and effort. But now if you crave a mix of pattern and color, you have the perfect springboard to add color with accessories (something else you know a thing or two about).
In many ways the rooms you show are another version of your wonderful G-Mom’s home in New Jersey, who we know inspires you and mentors you by example.
    Love you!

  6. Whoa this really surprises me but I love that you like different styles. Don’t we all. I’m the opposite- in the midst of doing a colorful apartment but lusting that one day I could do it up black/white/glam like yours.

  7. I am trying to take more risks with color…I tend to have neutral backgrounds and choose two colors to accessorize with. It’s my formula, although I have been known to throw caution to the wind and use any number of shades of said two colors. Ha.

As I commented on I Suwannee, that first photo was the very first page I ever tore from a magazine to save as inspiration! Still haven’t incorporated it in my home but I come back to it with happy thoughts all the time.

I thought Jamie’s house was best-in-mag! I loved the red paint she used in her living area.
