Kips Bay Review
I was invited to the private press showing of the Kips Bay Showhouse this morning, and I just have to say – WOW! What an amazing opportunity to see the house and get some photos before all the crowds storm in…
Although the designers only had 5 WEEKS!!!!!!!!! to get their rooms in order designs were nothing less than gorgeous. And because I was there early, I had the opportunity to chat with so many of them and to pick their brains on design, blogging and more! I told Vicente Wolf that to design nerds like me, meeting him is like meeting a rock star! (The man is a rock star, but we will get to that later.
Before I go into depth about each room and blab on and on, I just want to include photos of some of my favorite rooms:
Vicente Wolf in the gorgeous room he did:

A dining room by Culman& Kravis:
I think the billions of foo dogs actually keep the foo dog thing from looking played out. And as the designer told me, they are all different! Collections make everything seem fresh!

Even the hallways were gorgeous. A stair landing by Nancy Boszhardt:
Thats embossed wood on the walls btw. Looks like shagreen. GORGEOUS.
Another landing by Robert Verdi And Diedre D’elia Design:

That is brand new Phillip Jeffries wallpaper up there. Its lacquered grasscloth and its studded.
A woman’s sitting area by Mcmillen Plus:
Noel Jeffrey in the gorgeous bedroom he designed:
His wife likened his work to that of Oscar de la Renta… and its gorgeous. The stripe on the wall is actually the same paint that I used in my living room: Benjamin Moore metallics. (But I mixed 2 colors and stried mine.) The brass table in the corner is designed by Noel for the first Kips Bay he ever did! His wife would polish it herself when it was in their office for years. It was put into storage for years until this show house!
Art Collector’s Salon by Aman and Carson Interiors: A girl can dream.
The walls are lacquered, but the designers told me that they werent able to fully lacquer them because of time constraints and the fact that the weather was so bad! I actually like that it looks like wet paint and not full blown lacquer.

A living room by Sherrill Canet Interiors:
Love the gloss/flat stripe. Always have, always will. And I LOVE that chevron rug which will be in Stark showrooms soon!

Meditation room, media room and terrace by Jennifer Post Design:

Brett Design – Thats peel and stick wallpaper and Im getting some for cookies room. I am going to cover her ikea table in it!
And of course, the new Gaultier designed furniture for Roche Bobois in the entryway:
(Please send me pictures PR people, I couldnt get the people out of the way!)
Here is a slideshow of some more photos, but there will be even more later! Stay tuned!!!!
