I went to a party last night, and at least 1/2 of the girls there were wearing shorts… I get it (and I wear them too sometimes) it seems cooler than a miniskirt and more casual than a dress. BUT, its actually much harder to pull off than a dress. A dress is so easy, you have to try to screw it up. But with shorts, there are so many factors. Length. Cut. Fabric. Top. Shoes.

Lets take a look at some celebs who have busted out the shorts at night. These are all OK… Except for Mandy Moore’s. (I actually had to google her because I forgot her name.)
I like all of these. I like when the top is blousey and tucked in. I also like the look with a casual but structured blazer. Gwyneth looks hot, even though I hate the tights. I think Whitney looks great too. See – this looks a little too sloppy for my taste. I know thats what she was going for, but I would have liked this look better with a tank that was a bit more snug.SJP in 1999.UM. Admire her for so many things, like those sick legs, but way too much shimmer for me here. Oh Lil Kim. Another 2 inches in every direction would have made a world of difference. But then she wouldnt be Lil Kim. So these two examples are beloved by people on the web. But I’m kinda undecided. I think the look is a little old for Amanda. And I have seen Gwyneth look so much cooler. I absolutely loath that jacket and the sight of Blake’s cleavage makes me semi-queasy. #fail.  Her shoes also suck. I dont know who this chick is… what do you think of how she wore the shorts?

Olivia Palermo is the QUEEN of wearing shorts at night. She loves menswear. So do I. I absolutely adore the way she wears shorts.I love this look. She makes it all look so easy.
They are always the right length, the right structure, and paired with the right top.
