Phillip Lim Raises the Bar at Fashion Week

Hi, Its Laura Cohen, friend and reader of Sketch42,  guest blogging about Phillip Lim’s fabulous fall collection.

Phillip Lim rocked fashion week. He actually had wearable items that I am already saving up to buy in the fall. Shearling jackets, sequins galore, and winter shorts were only some of his fabulous pieces. I especially loved the model wearing the aviators with the shorts and mohair sweater—How do I wish I could pull of that look……And look at the volume in her hair-its gorgeous!!!!

This look was a little too cowgirl for me because of the 80’s style denim, but the coat definitely looked great against the color of the denim.

Next up is my personal favorite. The coat has something very couture about it. I love the skinny belt and the wide sleeves, and the color makes it very wearable with either black or brown. Definitely a classic piece. I can definitely picture it on Sex and the City…..or maybe on me

I love this next look. Anyone can wear it. You don’t have to be paper thin to look good in his clothes-that’s what made his collection different from the other designers. He glammed up a plain grey sweater dress with a gorgeous shearling jacket.

The black shearling jacket is accessorized perfectly with the structured pants and white blouse. It makes the whole look younger and cooler.

Lim went glam with purple and gold sequins. Here is a more conservative look with a long sleeved shirt and an assymetrical hemline. What do you think of the suspenders?

I love this party dress.

I love how he paired the rocker girl gold sequins with the sophisticated trousers—another winner of the night. All in all, an awesome show, and an incredible collection!
