My Library Mancave.
All I ever wanted when I was a growing little nerd was my own library. So when I had the room for a den, I decided I would have one. First I entertained the idea of buying some bookcases from Ikea. But they wouldnt have fit well. So I drew up something and had my contractor build it. I chose Old Navy by Benjamin Moore to back the wall. It looks very fresh and crisp.
If I ever plan on turning this into a kids room, which I do, the bookcase will stay, the tv will go and we have an extra shelf to pop in there.
Now, of course, I am not the brightest and did not account for the cable boxes, and the wires, and the speakers. But I fixed it with those rows of boxes from Container Store on the bottom. Two of them have no backs and are filled with plugs and other hideous shit.
I bought the ladder from Ikea, cause I just had to have it. And I HATE those vases on top of it, but I dont know what else to put up there…
My friends try and style this thing every time they come over. Some like the color coding, some dont, some like the horizontal, some dont…. It goes on and on…
Now I know you guys wanted to see more of my house, so here is the other side of the room. I know this makes me the biggest hypocrite on earth, but I had those horns since before I bashed them.
The couch is navy blue velvet. There is an extra lamp hanging out there(the black one) because the one behind it needs a special Ikea light bulb and I aint got one.
The coffee table is going to be subject of another post called “design scavenging.” My friend was giving it away so I took it! Works perfectly!
There is DJ Hero hanging out by the window… The colored pillows and the 8′ round sheepskin were from my first apartment, which I’ll post about one of these days… The center pillow was from Pottery Barn.
Oh, and even though you cant tell, the walls are wallpapered in a grasscloth basket weave.
