BLACK & WHITE STRIPES – not just for jailbirds.

black-white-stripesBlack and white Stripes, a  signature look of designer Dorothy Draper, are making an appearance again. This look is so high contrast, it really transforms a space.  It can look really good in a room with boring or no architectural assets.  Small spaces like an entry way or  powder room  that would normally be drab and cramped will look great dressed up in stripes.  Definitely not for the faint of heart.

I prefer the vertical stripes to the horizontal, but both looks are popping all over design mags.

The above pic is from the Benjamin Moore site- followed by instructions on how to paint them.
Red works so well with this color combo. It really can be so tasteful when limited to a few objects.

The reflection of the stripes in the mirrored coffee table is brilliant.

KARLSTAD Loveseat

Love this Ikea sofa.

These cushions are great. I always love a window seat.

IKEA STOCKHOLM RAND Rug

And the Ikea Stockholm rug.

The black and white looks the best here. Its limited to one wall, and tempered with a load of white. The white ceiling beams done in white are tasteful. Thank god they aren’t black.

You can get your dose of  slammer glamour by taping up your white rental walls and using a high gloss black paint to paint on stripes. Remember one thing: there is such thing as too much of a good thing. See above.

Any thoughts?
